Install programs like on a modern computer

Crema is an app store for the Amiga. One window with programs sorted by category, a search, a button to install - and later one to update and one to remove cleanly.

Crema knows three sources: a repository of verified packages, all of Aminet with about 85,000 files and the WHDLoad installers for about 3,900 games and demos.

Download: Crema-0.6.2.lha (176 KB) · ReadMe.txt
For AmigaOS 3.5, 3.9, 3.1.4, 3.2 and CaffeineOS. The shell version cremacli runs from Kickstart 2.04.

What Crema does

  • Store window with programs, updates, installed programs, Aminet and WHDLoad
  • Unpacks LHA, ZIP and ADF by itself - no lha or unzip needed
  • Writes ADF images to a real floppy disk, with verification
  • Every package file from the repository is checked with SHA-256
  • Interrupted downloads are resumed
  • Checks CPU, FPU, AGA, graphics card, RAM and OS version - and picks the right build for your CPU
  • Installs requirements first
  • Asks where to install; updates go where the program already is - even if you moved it
  • Remembers every installed file and removes a program completely
  • Aminet built in: latest uploads, search, readmes, starting Installer scripts
  • WHDLoad built in: new installers, search by kind, download from whdload.de and start the Installer
  • New releases of Amiga projects on GitHub reach the repository automatically
  • cremacli for the shell - cremacli auto keeps an Amiga up to date by itself
  • English and German, HTTPS via AmiSSL when available

Inspiration

Crema follows the design of Munki, which schools and companies use to manage thousands of Macs: a repository on a web server, catalogs, manifests and receipts. It is managed from any computer through a web interface.
